Vincent William is an adults-only inn with eight rooms above our restaurant and wine bar, in a stone and slate mansion that opened to guests in 2024, with Lake Erie beyond the north windows. Why stay with us
Mentor already has Headlands Beach and plenty of places to eat. What Vincent William adds, 25 minutes east, is a room upstairs from the restaurant, so dinner can last until the kitchen closes and end with a flight of stairs instead of a drive. The inn is a stone mansion Michael and Katy Profeta opened in 2024. For a date night, Suite 206 has a king bed and an in-room Jacuzzi, and Suite 205 has a king bed and a private rooftop patio over the lake. Breakfast the next morning is cooked to order from 8:30 to 10, with coffee and fresh juice.

A stay worth planning around
Pick a Wednesday through Saturday night, check in after 4 p.m., and book the table for 6 or 7 so there is time at the wine bar first. After the 11 a.m. check-out you are home in Mentor before noon. Outside summer one night is enough; summer stays need two nights.
Covered bridges east of the inn
A 25-minute drive leaves the afternoon free for a detour. The Harpersfield Covered Bridge, 228 feet over the Grand River near Geneva was built in 1868; it reopened to traffic in May 2024, has a pedestrian walkway, and sits in a 53-acre Ashtabula County Metropark open dawn to dusk. Farther east, the Smolen-Gulf Bridge runs 613 feet over the Ashtabula River on State Road: the longest covered bridge in the United States.
A weeknight date 25 minutes from home
Leave Mentor at 4:30, check in by 5 and have an hour before a 6:30 table. Spend it at the wine bar with a glass of the Pinot Noir, or in the hot tub which inn guests can use from May to November 1, weather permitting. There is no elevator, so pack light for the stairs. Every room has a private bath. Dinner and the bar tab are paid separately from the room.
Breakfast, check-out, and 18 holes in Madison
Take breakfast downstairs from 8:30, then pack up for the 11 a.m. check-out. If you want to keep the day, Powderhorn Golf Course on Bates Road in Madison is a public 18-hole, par-70 course, built in 1966, with a driving range and a putting green. Have lunch at the inn when the restaurant opens at noon, book a 1:30 tee time, and you are home in Mentor, 25 minutes away, by early evening. In summer, the barn theater at Rabbit Run on West Chapel Road stages evening shows at 7:30 if you would rather make it a second night out.
Suite 101 for a birthday with a steam shower
Suite 101 is on the first floor and has a steam shower and a clawfoot tub, so there are no stairs to climb after dinner. For a birthday or a date night from Mentor, it means dinner, a bath and bed with no drive at the end. Outside summer one night is enough; summer stays run two nights.
Look at Suite 101 or the other seven rooms, then reserve a table for the same night so the room and dinner are booked together.
