Route 11 runs from Youngstown nearly to the lake. Take it to I-90 and Madison: eight adults-only rooms, estate wine, dinner and breakfast in one house.
Our family spent eight years finishing this stone and slate mansion before opening it to guests in 2024. Today, the house brings together our boutique hotel, restaurant and wine bar, with Lake Erie beyond the north windows. Estate Cabernet Franc is grown, pressed and poured on the property; the 2022 vintage received Double Gold at the 2025 Ohio Wine Competition. Read our story.
Worth the drive
Why stay with us
Youngstown and the Lake Erie shore have been linked since 1873, when the Pittsburgh, Youngstown and Ashtabula Railroad was finished and iron ore landed at Ashtabula Harbor went south by rail to the Mahoning Valley mills. Route 11 now covers the distance in about an hour, and Vincent William is 16 miles west of where it meets I-90. The inn is a stone mansion on the lake in Madison with eight adults-only rooms. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner Wednesday through Sunday, and the wine bar pours the estate Cabernet Franc; the 2022 took Double Gold at the 2025 Ohio Wine Competition.

A stay worth planning around
Leave Youngstown at about 2:45 p.m. to arrive for the 4 p.m. check-in. Because the drive is close to an hour, a single Saturday night works outside summer, with breakfast cooked to order before the 11 a.m. check-out. In summer, book two nights. Choose a Wednesday to Sunday arrival for dinner at the inn.
Ashtabula Harbor, at the end of Route 11
Stay on Route 11 past the I-90 interchange and it ends in Ashtabula, near the harbor. On Bridge Street, the 1925 lift bridge carries Route 531 over the Ashtabula River and still lifts for boats. The street is lined with owner-operated shops and restaurants. From there, head back to I-90 west for Madison. There are no tolls anywhere on the route.
A Saturday arrival from the Mahoning Valley
Leave Youngstown around 2:45, drive the 48 miles of Route 11, and turn west on I-90 for the last 16. Check-in opens at 4. Bags go up by the stairs, because there is no elevator, and each room has a private bath. Pool and hot tub season for guests is May through November 1, subject to weather. Dinner is served until 9 on Saturday.
Fairport Harbor’s lighthouse and a Madison tasting room
Breakfast is served 8:30 to 10, cooked to order from the standard menu with coffee and fresh juice. Drive 20 minutes west to Fairport Harbor, at the mouth of the Grand River. The Fairport Harbor Marine Museum and Lighthouse is in the keeper’s house rebuilt in 1871 and is open seasonally (check the days before you go). Walk the beach at Fairport Harbor Lakefront Park afterward. On the way back, stop at Cask 307 on Route 307 in Madison, which opened in 2019 and serves meats, cheeses and sandwiches from its deli. Dinner at the inn at 7.
Suite 206 for a one-night Saturday
Outside summer, a single Saturday works from Youngstown, and Suite 206 makes one night count: it pairs a king bed with an in-room Jacuzzi. In summer, the two-night minimum means booking Friday as well. Check-out is 11 a.m., which leaves time for breakfast and the drive home down Route 11 by early afternoon.
Book Suite 206 for the Saturday, check how to get around the wineries without driving, and reserve dinner at the same time as the room.

The drive
Getting here
Route 11 north for 48 miles to I-90 at exit 228 in Ashtabula County, then I-90 west for about 16 miles to exit 212 (Route 528) in Madison: 74 miles, no tolls.
Set your destination to 1300 Belleair Avenue, Madison, Ohio. Check current navigation before leaving and allow for traffic and stops. Once here, your room, the restaurant and the wine bar are on the same property.

Common questions
How far is Vincent William from Youngstown?
It is 74 miles, about 65 minutes. Take Route 11 north to I-90 (exit 228), then I-90 west to exit 212 (Route 528) in Madison. Neither road is tolled. The inn is at 1300 Belleair Ave, and check-in begins at 4 p.m.
Do we need a dinner reservation if we are staying overnight?
Yes, book it. The room rate includes breakfast; lunch, dinner and drinks are paid for separately, and a room booking does not reserve a table. Reserve both at once for a Saturday. The wine bar takes walk-ins if you arrive early and want a drink before the table.
Are there other wineries near the Route 11 and I-90 junction?
Yes. Between exit 228 and Madison, the Grand River Valley wineries include Ferrante and Harpersfield Vineyard near Geneva, Debonne and Laurello, all a short drive from the inn. The inn's ride partners, GoGeneva, Sunset Taxi and The Lodge wine shuttle, can handle the driving for a winery afternoon.
