Lake Erie Bluffs
20 min drive
Six hundred and seventy acres of forty-foot bluffs, wild beach and a tower with a view to the horizon.
Lake Erie Bluffs protects nearly two miles of undeveloped shoreline: forty-foot bluffs above a stone and driftwood beach, with rare beach plants and no development in either direction.
A fifty-foot observation tower gives a full three-hundred-and-sixty degree view over the lake and the woods behind it. Bald eagles are resident and easy to see. The park sits on a major migratory flyway, which makes the spring and autumn birding genuinely good rather than merely pleasant.
The Shoreline Trail runs along the beach and the Lakeview Trail runs the bluff above it, so you can walk out on one and back on the other and look down on where you have been.
From the innkeepers
Twenty minutes west. Go at the end of the day: the tower faces the sunset and the light on the bluffs is the reason people come back.

Common questions
Is there a lookout tower at Lake Erie Bluffs?
Yes. A fifty-foot observation tower with staged viewing platforms and a top deck giving 360-degree views over Lake Erie and the surrounding woodland.
How long are the trails?
The Shoreline and Lakeview trails are around six-tenths of a mile each and pair into a natural loop. Linking four of the park's trails makes a walk of roughly four miles.
