A canopy walk sixty-five feet up and a twelve-story tower with a view to Lake Erie.
Holden is one of the largest arboreta in the country, and two structures make it worth the forty-minute drive. The Murch Canopy Walk is a five-hundred-foot elevated walkway suspended sixty-five feet above the forest floor. The Kalberer Emergent Tower climbs a hundred and twenty feet (twelve stories) above the canopy, and on a clear day you can see Lake Erie from the top.
Both are seasonal, generally April through October, and the grounds are closed on Mondays. Allow an hour and a half to two hours for the walk and the tower together, and longer if you intend to see the gardens.
It is the furthest thing on this list and the one most guests are gladdest they made time for.
