Geneva State Park
10 min drive
Six hundred feet of sand beach, a six-lane boat ramp and a creek you can paddle.
Geneva State Park runs along the shoreline just west of Geneva-on-the-Lake and covers the useful middle ground between wild lakefront and resort strip: a swimming beach, a full marina, forest, freshwater marsh and estuary.
The marina has a six-lane ramp, fuel, dock rental and a canteen, and it is where most of the charter boats in this part of the lake tie up. Kayaks, paddleboards and pedal boats can be rented for Cowles Creek, which is calm enough for children in a way the open lake is not.
It is ten minutes from the estate and the most flexible outdoor day in the area: you can swim, paddle, hike and fish without moving the car.
From the innkeepers
Cowles Creek is the sheltered option when the lake is running. Ask at the marina rather than judging from the beach.

Is there a swimming beach at Geneva State Park?
Yes. Roughly six hundred feet of sand beach on Lake Erie, along with a marina, boat ramp and paddling on Cowles Creek.
Can you rent kayaks there?
Kayaks, paddleboards and pedal boats are available seasonally for Cowles Creek, which is far more sheltered than the open lake.
