Fairport Harbor Lakefront Park
20 min drive
A lifeguarded sand beach with paddle rentals, concessions and a village worth staying in afterwards.
Fairport Harbor Lakefront Park is the most family-managed beach on this stretch of coast: lifeguards on duty in season, paddle rentals, concessions, picnic shelters and playgrounds behind the sand.
It sits at the mouth of the Grand River next to the harbor itself, so there is constant boat traffic to watch, and the village behind it has a creamery and a handful of good, unpretentious places to eat.
Combine it with the lighthouse museum a few streets away and you have an easy half-day that works in any weather.
From the innkeepers
The village is the underrated half. Beach first, then walk up into Fairport Harbor rather than driving straight home.
