Ohio Wineries Where You Can Stay the Night

Most Ohio wineries close in the evening and everyone drives home. A small handful have beds. If you are planning a wine weekend and want to wake up where you tasted, these are the places in the state that actually offer it, including ours, stated plainly at the end.

Gervasi Vineyard: Canton

The biggest operation on this list: an Italian-styled resort village with villas and suites arranged around a small lake, plus multiple restaurants and a distillery. If you want a full resort with a vineyard attached, this is the one, about an hour south of Cleveland.

The Lakehouse Inn: Geneva-on-the-Lake

A family-run inn and winery on the Geneva-on-the-Lake strip, with cottages, a day spa and Crosswinds Grille. It sits in the middle of the resort town, which is the draw if you want the strip at your doorstep.

Buccia Vineyards: Conneaut

A small winery bed and breakfast near Ashtabula County's covered bridges, and one of the originals: a handful of rooms at a working family winery in the state's far northeast corner.

Vineyard Woods: Geneva

Lodging rather than a winery: upscale cottages set among the Grand River Valley wineries. You stay here and drive or shuttle to the tasting rooms nearby.

Vincent William Wine: Madison

Ours, so judge the sales pitch accordingly, but the facts are simple. Eight rooms, adults only, king or queen with private baths, upstairs in a 13,000-square-foot stone and slate mansion on the shore of Lake Erie. The estate's Cabernet Franc vines grow between the front door and the water. Dinner is downstairs Wednesday through Sunday, breakfast is cooked to order for guests of the inn, and from May through November the pool and hot tub above the lake open at nine. You taste, eat and sleep in the same building, and the lake is out the north windows the whole time.
