Restaurant Week gives people a reason to try an independent restaurant. For those of us running one, the work continues between promotions: hiring and training a team, keeping up with food costs, and looking after the people who come through the door.
We appreciate everyone who makes room for those restaurants in their week. Here are a few of our favorites around Northeast Ohio.
Vincent William Wine, Madison
Our place, of course. Chef Jeff Gable cooks in the mansion overlooking Lake Erie, with Italian and Irish influences and ingredients from nearby farms. You can come for lunch or dinner, or stay at the inn and have breakfast here the next morning.
Ninja Sushi, Mentor
Ninja is our go-to for sushi when we want an unfussy meal. We value the consistency of the food and the care of the team.
Amba, Cleveland
We like Amba for its bold flavors, cocktails and lively room. It is a place we leave still talking about dinner.
Vero Pizza, Cleveland Heights
Vero’s wood-fired pizza is why we go. The dough, heat and balance of the toppings give the kitchen plenty to work on without a sprawling menu.
Nights and Weekends, Ashtabula Harbor
Cocktails, food and a room that changes from early evening to late night. We like seeing people gather here in the Harbor.
Rennick Meat Market, Ashtabula Harbor
Rennick serves steaks and burgers in a historic building on Bridge Street. It is one of the places we suggest when guests want dinner in the Harbor.
For more nearby stops, read our food tour of the Grand River Valley. If you are joining us, reserve a table.
